Legenda
Francesco Tiezzi grew up in a small rural town in Tuscany, nearby Montepulciano. He graduated with first and second level degrees in Agricultural Science at the University of Florence, in 2007 and 2008 respectively. He then moved to the University of Padua for a Doctorate in Animal Science under the supervision of Prof. Giovanni Bittante. He obtained the Doctoral Degree in 2012 with a thesis on genetic improvement in dairy cattle. While working on his doctorate, he spent a 6-months visiting period at North Carolina State University (Raleigh, NC, USA) under the supervision of Dr. Christian Maltecca, which is where he returned for a Post-Doc after completing his Doctorate. In 2017, Dr. Tiezzi joined the Animal Science Department's Faculty at North Carolina State University as Research Assistant Professor. Dr. Tiezzi established his own lab in Quantitative Genomics and Animal Breeding, working both on publicly-funded projects and in collaboration with the US agricultural industry. In 2021, Dr. Tiezzi moved back to the University of Florence as Senior Researcher (RTD-b) at the Department of Agriculture, Food, Environment and Forestry (DAGRI).Dr. Tiezzi continues his research in Quantitative Genomics and Animal Breeding, working on different fields of quantitative genetics and animal breeding. As for today, he is author or co-author of 80 peer-review manuscripts and two book chapters.
