Criteria to design farm buildings at low environmental impact. Building and plant-engineering solutions to limit emissions to atmosphere, soil and water. Housing solutions and animal welfare. Health protection of livestock farms. Management and treatment of farm wastes. Biogas plants.

Learning Objectives
Knowledge acquired: the main goal is to form the students in relation to problems concerning the working of an environmentally friendly livestock building. Competence acquired (at the end of the course): Methods to evaluate an animal house, taking into consideration the goal of minimizing the environmental impact and respecting animal wellbeing. Skills acquired (at the end of the course): the student must acquire capacities necessary to evaluate an animal house, characterized by low environmental impact, favourable for animal wellbeing and for the quality of products.
